Am I a weirdo if I listen to Frank Sinatra at the gym and I love it? Well this morning I did.
In one of his songs, “Come fly with me”, Frank goes:
Come fly with me, we’ll fly, we’ll fly away
If you can use some exotic booze
There’s a bar in far Bombay…
Come fly with me, will float down to Peru
In llama-land there’s a one-man band
And he’ll toot his flute for you…
Weather-wise, it’s such a lovely day
Just say those words and we’ll feed those birds
Down to Acapulco Bay…
It’s amazing. I realized while listening, how he doesn’t just talk about ephemeral experiences, love etc. Frank talks about real life, memorable experiences. Stuff you can only do in those far away places. And which are enhanced by the presence of a person you feel a connection with.
Sometimes I wonder, do we end up missing the experiences, the people, or the memories we have of how we felt immersing ourselves in those experiences and spending time with those people?
Anyway, Frank is awesome.
